Am helping a relative whose husband recently passed. He had several handguns, which I can handle as to sale and likely value.

I am at a loss as to two SHOTGUNS he had and best way to handle/value them.

1. Winchester Model 50; 12 gauge automatic, bought in 60's, always cleaned and no rust; ready to go hunting out of the dusty case.

2. Stevens Model 311, 16 gauge, also bought in 60's; no rust, and ready to shoot in good condition

I checked several of the auction sites, but she really needs all the $$ she can come up with, so other than pawn shop, or local gun shops, any suggestions as to how I might help her. Any comments as to valuation appreciated also.

She is in Bradenton...Thanks,

I would look at the online gun auction sites for similar models to get an idea of a starting price and then list it at one of those sites. I frequent gunbroker.com but I know there are many others to choose from. You want one with a lot of traffic.

Guns America would give you a pretty good idea of what they are worth. I have two 1956 Stevens Model 311 one in like new condition and have been offered $1,200 for it by several collectors, the other has been reblued and stock refinished and is valued at $50 to $150. Don't go to a pawn shop they are worth more than what the pawn shops will give you. Try these two links:
