View Full Version : Strong economy and a tax rebate....

So W thinks a $600 tax rebate will kick off some spending and improve the economy. Didn't he just (a week or 2 ago) say the economy is looking good? Am I confused, or just stupid? Is the economy good or do we all need some extra $ to help it out?

Is it my imagination or has spending been in a bit of a decline for a while...oh say since the hike in fuel prices drove the price of everything up?

I am generally not one for government involvement in my daily life but....
14billion of PROFIT every quarter is a bit much. I know a business is in business to make money, and in a "free market" the sky is the limit...but at what cost? I would be very happy to see the oil giants make 14 million a year (not a quarter) and allow me to still pay $1 per gallon. If the government wants to help the economy they need to regulate the industry raping us of all of our money. Imagine home much "free money" we all (corporate America included) would have if gas prices were reasonable.
I know that BS taxes, not-so-thrifty spending by our government, frivolous lawsuits, welfare professionals, corrupt insurers, foriegn aid, and other factors play a big part in the economic decline, but 14 billion a quarter in profit is absurd.

Profit is not a four letter word, but rape is.

The proposed plan is to give away about $100billion which is about what the oil company has overcharged America. Imagine that.

I am going to use mine to stimulate the economy. I am buying a gun with mine, maybe two and some ammo. I will help the economy every chance I get.

Just doing my part.

I'll be getting $1200 for being married on top of the $1600 i'm allready getting back because I over paid. I'll be upping my arsenal for when the economy crashes and it's every man for himself. :D

Crude oil is a global commoditiy and global demand will drive the price up everywhere. Just wait till all these other **** countries start needing more gas. The price of gas will continue to increase as the world becomes more industrialized and the supply will continue to decline as no one is making any more of it. Eventually we overpopulate the planet so badly that 100 of millions of people will starve to death and people will be killing each other over food, gas, water, you name it.

I'm getting way off topic now.

With my "free money", I tend to agree that the gun count will go up, as will ammo supplies. Well ahead of the Presidental Election and possible (probable, if Hilabeast wins) further restrictions on the Second Amendment makes this a 'no-brainer'.

****, "free money"? LOL! It was ours and we're getting some of it back, so spend it on what you think you need to spend it on and can afford to do so....

Guns and ammo has been going up cause folks afraid the dems gonna come into power, so more people been buying, supply and demand. One more thing the dems give us, besides Bill. We'll need the free money to pay for it.

Definitely a new gun and some MORE ammo....I'll help the economy by putting some money in the pockets of my local gun shop.

+1. Make sure you also send a thank-you note for your new gun and ammo to all the anti-rights liberals that voted for the rebate!

Bucky...

ROTFLMFAO! EXCELLENT suggestion and I may well do that, the only fear would be that they'd have a door to knock on when they start looking.

Hope everyone realizes that the window is closing, depending on the election results in November, so I am planning to buy whatever I can afford in both guns and ammo between now and January.

Now, if I can only hit the FL Lottery between now and then. After all, I'm only six #'s away twice a week....
