Considering Taurus has moved up in the world in the past couple years.... If you had the option of owning a Glock or a taurus what would you pick?

For me it has happen twice. I go to a gun show thinking I am going to buy a polymer pistol and it happens? A dang revolver jumps in my hand and I can't put it down. :o I guess I would wind up with a Taurus as Glock don't make a revolver. :)

There is no easy answer to that question. First, I have a nice accumulation of guns, so it's hypothetical at best.
The question depends on the purpose of the gun, what would it be used for, hunting, personal protection, plinking, competition shooting - and why should it be restricted to two manufacturers, both not American?

Why not a Ruger? I was a S&W snob but have in the last three years somehow- don't ask even how it could happen- accumulated five Rugers. Three revolvers and two rifles.
The Ruger revolvers are well made and sturdy and also very easy to work on.

I would have to go with Taurus. A good company and have a great gun. Glock has basically stepped out of the way and let other manufactures surpas them. Dont get me wrong here Glock is a awesome gun. I just would rather have a lifetime warranty on my ford rather than have no warranty on my BMW.

I have a Glock 19 with over 10,000 rounds through it without one malfunction of any sort....ever! They are awesome guns!

I have to disagree that Glock has been surpassed by other manufacturers. Glock has a good product with a tremendous economical success, remember the proverb " Never change a winning team"? Other manufacturers might offer a product that has evolved and improved since the inception of the Glock platform but Glock has an extremely consistent quality and is still the standard others are measured by.

Neither any of my S&W and Ruger revolvers have had such a consistency, and the Taurus line of guns has no mechanical advantage of either but is a knock-off, lacking the aftermarket parts availability. An equally stable quality has been only found in SIG Sauers, H&K, and earlier Walthers, before they got bought out by Umarex and the inception of the ill-fated P22.

Taurus, on the other hand, is known for lack of quality control and the warranty repairs have not always been to their customers' satisfaction, from the quality of repair to the length of it. So much for Taurus warranty. Glock has a legally limited warranty but they are actually standing much better behind their product than it appears in writing in the manual.

I do not want to imply that I like Glocks warranty. While they consider me worthy to buy their product, they consider me too ignorant to install an extractor myself. They refused to send me one under warranty. This is where the current S&W warranty shines!
I bought a S&W 22A pistol around 1999 or 2000, my kids and I pumped 70,000 rounds through this inexpensive plinker. Everything that broke was immediately sent to me under warranyt, three firing pins, one sight rib, and a few spare firing pins.
Around 60,000 rounds the frame broke and I thought that by now the gun had served its purpose and I got more fun out of it than money invested. Nevertheless, I called S&W, they sent me a pre-paid UPS label and built a new frame with the same serial number for me. The gun was back within four weeks and has been enjoyed another 10,000 rounds since then.

Now that is a good old American company and warranty!

Stick with the original Tupperware. What I like about my Glocks is best summed up by the old adage; " takes a beating and keeps on ticking". I have probably 25000 9mm rounds through my G34 and G17L. Great pistols! Mike C.

Ive mentioned this on here befor. But i own a few of both (more glocks then taurus) and i wont carry a taurus auto. Ive had mine and seen way too many jams with them. Ive got thousands of rounds through all my glocks and have literally never had a gun jam that wasnt my fault( had my thunb too high and the slide grabbed the web) and the one that was my fault only happened once. Taurus has gotten better, but ive even seen friends with the newest of new taurus' still jamming after 500 rounds (you know the 200 round break in). I havent cleaned my G23 in well over 600 rounds and not a single jam. with over 5000 through it, it hasnt had a jam of any kind.
